Are you planning on starting your own blog soon? Are you looking to host your blog on your own web hosting plan?
If so, you may want to check out several different hosting companies before jumping into any contracts with any one company. There can be a lot of differences among the large variety of hosting companies available for bloggers.
It’s important to ask someone you really trust about their web hosting. Searching online you will find plenty of ‘reviews’ of various hosting companies — but often these reviewers have a financial stake in your choice.

Choosing a Web Hosting Company

Something to Consider when Selecting Web Hosting
One important thing to consider when selecting a web hosting company is customer service. Specifically, is the company reachable by telephone? Email support just won’t cut it when you need questions to a problem — you can’t afford to wait until someone decides to read you email (if they do) and get back to you with a written response that may not answer your concerns and perhaps require still another email.
It’s also important that the telephone support be adequate. How long is the holding time? A few minutes is reasonable — even up to 10 minutes wouldn’t be unusual for many companies. However, how is the support once someone does answer the call. Can you understand the person? Are they able to help you or do they have to pass you along to another department with another wait?
If you are in the market for web hosting I suggest you make a telephone call to the company PRIOR to making any commitment. Try out their customer service before buying. Call to ask some general questions and express your concerns. If you are on hold a long time … try again another time to see if maybe that was just a fluke. Be sure to try during a busy time — like a Monday morning — just to see what the worse case scenario might be.
These are just a few tips I learned the hard way. Many web hosting companies will offer high affiliate fees to anyone who will promote them. People will say lots of nice things about a company to be paid these high fees — you need to find out for yourself if indeed the company is worthy of your business. Ask friends you trust who have real experience with the company. You will want to be sure the company offers a money back guarantee for at the least the first 15 to 30 days you are with the company.
