After our nearly 24 hour train adventure we arrived at Disney’s Polynesian Resort at approximately noon on the 30th of June, 2008. Ha…. it was like being back home. This was our ninth stay at the Polynesian Resort and to us it’s like going to the family beach house. There are Disney employees we look forward to seeing each and every year. It’s all good.
We were surprised to find our room was ready even at this early time of the day — usually rooms are not ready until closer to 3 or 4 p.m. We were so glad for this because we were exhausted from the train ride and couldn’t wait to unpack and just lounge at the pool for a while.
We were upgraded to the Hawaii building and in room 1504 — a perfect view of the lagoon and Cinderella’s Castle. We had requested a first floor room and we got it! The kids were able to go right out to the patio and onto the beach to play in the sand — and there was a hammock and swing just a few steps away for my tired husband. Here’s the view from our room:

And our room was filled with the coveted ‘towel animals.’ What are towel animals you are wondering? Housekeeping often arranges towels into animal shapes for the kids — much like shaping balloons into animals shapes — except towels don’t pop! Here’s an example of a few in our room. We had about 8 different towel animals throughout our room and bathroom. That was really cool and the kids got a big kick out of that.
The room was perfect! We quickly unpacked and headed to the pool!
A perfect beginning to our vacation.
