Enjoying Spring

I’m starting to really enjoy this Spring. The weather has been very nice — somewhat cooler than usual — but I like that. I’m in no rush for the hot, humid weather we usually get here in Virginia. I’m trying to enjoy some of my old time hobbies that I hadn’t had time for the past year or so. I feel I somewhat lost touch with reality the past year while I was busy with an online venture I started (in which the time commitment was enormous but has since dwindled down considerably). I’m finally taking some time to smell the roses. I actually DO have a beautiful flower garden this year. Everything is just beginning to take off. The spring rains have helped a lot. And our lawn looks the best it has in the entire eight years we’ve lived in this house.
And, I’m reading a novel for the first time in ages. Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite authors. I use to read all her books the minute they were on the shelf at the store. Currently, I’m reading her latest “Where are you Now?” I’m about a third of the way through the book and she is still a great writer.
Our neighborhood pool also opened this past weekend — and guess what — they now have wireless internet service — so, I’ll definitely be taking the kids there a lot this summer!
Tonight I plan on climbing up to the attic to bring down our luggage — our Disney trip is just a month away — but it takes me a while to get 5 people packed so I begin early.

I don’t know about your neck of the woods … but it’s cold here in Virginia!
However, when I looked at my kitchen window sill today and realized I still had the winter decorations on the top sill (gingerbread men from Christmas!) I knew I had to get into Spring — I went to the store today and bought flowers to plant! I was surprised at how many different choices they had already. Many of the plants you typically don’t see in stores until May were already in stock. I’m thinking those poor things might freeze to death! So…. I helped by bringing them home — now they are resting in my garage where they should be protected from tonight’s near freezing weather.
The weather channel promises warmer weather tomorrow — and planting flowers will make a nice Science lesson for the kids tomorrow afternoon. Here’s hoping for Spring!
