Phone vs. Email

Recently, a good friend of ours was hospitalized with a stroke. The news went out in an email. Our email server was down because of a storm that had gone through our area knocking out the cable.

We didn’t receive the email until three days after the fact. We felt so sad to know our friend was in the hospital for three days — probably thinking we didn’t care enough to return the email, call, or stop by.

Once we received the email we were on the phone and at the hospital to visit. We all learned something…

Sometimes phone calls are the way to go.

Email can be too impersonal — and not so reliable.

Our friend is okay — and will make a full recovery with a few weeks or rehab.
