Disney’s Prince Caspian review

Disney did it again … another great Chronicles of Narnia movie!

Our whole family went to see the movie last Friday on opening day. We went just after the lunch so the theater was nearly empty because most kids were still in school. It’s great having a movie theater to yourself on opening day.

Two weeks ago the kids and I began reading the book “Prince Caspian” in order to get an idea of what the movie would be about — plus we enjoy reading C.S. Lewis books. We still had a few more chapters to go when opening day arrived … however, we figured since we had to find out the ending one way or the other it was either from the book or the movie — what did it matter if we hadn’t finished the book yet.

There are a few difference from the book. The most notable was the scene where Lucy meets Aslan again. In the book the Christian theme is very powerful. In the movie a large part of the book is missing entirely. That was slightly disappointing — but it didn’t ruin the movie or our experience watching the movie. After all, we realize Disney is appealing to all audiences and would naturally downplay some parts of the book in order to attract more fans.

It’s well worth the visit to the movies with your kids — a great wholesome movie for everyone!

Rain, rain GO AWAY!

I spent part of my Mother’s Day and everyday since cleaning out water from my basement! According to the weather report this has been the rainiest May in Virginia in 60 years!

We have a sump pump in the basement but I think it just couldn’t handled all the water — we think the water is coming from the water table rising — and finding any place it can to come in. At first I was in a panic mode and did nothing but pump the water out with the wet vac. Finally, I found the source of the water at the joint where the wall meets floor just under the front door.

One thing I learned through this experience is that we have too much JUNK! Our basement is finished and mostly the place in the house where the kids have all their toys and stuff. Where the water came in is mostly in the storage room where we store all the Christmas decorations and everything else we ‘might need’ some day in the future. I finally decided that day may never come and it’s time to toss all this stuff — especially now that most of it is soaked!

The bad thing is …. more rain is expected tonight and tomorrow … hopefully, we won’t get flooded again!

Health Insurance gone crazy!

A few weeks ago I wrote about my son having lyme’s disease. He is doing fine and the medication seems to have done what it is suppose to.

A few days ago I received the bill in the mail — which is pretty standard while waiting for the health insurance to pay the bill. We have a co-pay so I’m not worried about the bill — even though I thought it was extraordinary high for the services rendered. It was nearly $400 just for a basic office visit and blood work.

Today I received a letter in the mail from our health insurance wanting to know when the ‘accident’ happened? “Where” the accident happened? And WHO owns the deer tic?????????? Yes, you read that correctly … who owns the tic!

Mmmmm…. let me see …..

I’m not exactly sure ‘when’ the bite occurred.

Not exactly sure ‘where’ either.

And, let’s see … who did own that tic — was it the deer that lost it? One of my dogs who may have brought it into the house (if indeed that’s where the ‘accident’ occurred)? The county I live in? Mother Earth? God?

This is just crazy …. my husband thinks that our insurance company must be outsourcing their billing to somewhere overseas. That’s just about the only explanation for this. LOL
